Belén Ponce de León was born in Seville, Spain. She has worked in theatre, cinema and television. Among her works for the big screen are Jaulas (2017 Nicolás Pacheco, 63rd Valladolid International Film Festival Official Selection), El Reino (2017, Rodrigo Sorogoyen), ¿Quién mató a Bambi? (2013, Santi Amodeo), 23-F (2011 Chema de la Peña), Camino (2008 Javier Fesser), El tiempo de Plácido Meana (2007, Kike Narcea).

In theatre she has worked with important directors like Ernesto Caballero in Doña Perfecta (2012-2013), Chiqui Carabante in Los Caminos del señor son inescrutables (2014), Ernesto Arias in El Castigo sin Venganza (2011), Lawrence Boswell in Fuenteovejuna (2010), Juan Dolores Caballero in Final de Partida (2002), Norman Price in Barking Dogs (1998). She has also worked as an actress and dancer in Japan (1999-2000).

With director Jose Troncoso in 2015 she founded the theatre company La Estampida, which has produced such plays as Lo Nunca Visto, Igual que si en la luna, Las princesas del Pacífico (Escenarios de Sevilla Festival´s she won best actress award).

Belén participated in many series for television such as Amar en tiempos revueltos, Vis a Vis, 45 rpm, La catedral del mar or La Zona among others.

She studied acting at La Barraca school in Madrid, English Literature at the University of Seville and Phd programme on Theatre Studies at the Universities of London (Royal Holloway College), Paris (Paris VIII) and Seville.
