BIOGRAPHY: BRITISH ACTRESS SUZANNE KENDALL

Suzanne Kendall was born and raised in Somerset, England. As a young girl, she was active in renowned, local theatrical and operatic societies. Having caught the bug at an early age, she later moved to London to pursue her actor training. After graduation, she toured the UK, performing and work-shopping Shakespeare plays with school children.

Her love of the Bard led her to co-produce a version of King Lear (‘Lear and His Daughters’) for the London stage, in which she also performed. Her appearance on the London theatre scene led to a number of other roles in various theatrical productions, pursued alongside a burgeoning film career. She came to the attention of the film director Robbie Moffat (of Palm Tree Entertainment, whose film, ‘Red Rose’ won ‘Best Actress’ at the Angel Film Awards 2004), and this led to her being cast in her first feature film. Five years later, she has played lead and supporting roles in fourteen independent British feature films.

Genres have ranged from thriller to comedy to drama, and taken her to places far and wide in the UK and beyond – Estonia in August 2012, and Utah, USA in October 2011. She has also worked alongside some well known American stars (Leslie Easterbrook of Police Academy fame and Emily Bergl from Desperate Housewives). In 2011, Suzanne was selected for the television pilot and documentary – ‘Acting Raw’. She is continuing to work with that production company, Zeitgeist Industries, on a number of other film projects. Also in the pipeline, is a web-series with The Lacuna Works called ‘Wilds’.

Suzanne is delighted to have been invited on to this year’s jury. Having accompanied her father, Michael Kendall (of BBC Wildlife fame), on his jury service at a number of international wildlife film festivals, not only is she carrying on family tradition, but also being given the opportunity to serve a sector of the film industry for which she has great respect, admiration and gratitude – independent filmmaking.

Suzanne looks forward to supporting and celebrating the creativity of this sector at this year’s festival as well as promoting the values of love and peace that are inherent to the Angel Film Awards.
