Directed by Matthew Chenet; Writer: Betsy Bertram; Producers: Erin Essenmacher, Matthew Chenet; DB/Cinematographer: Andrew Schwartz; Creative Consultant, Dr. Betsy Bennett, Advisor Sponsorship & Funding

Why we have chosen the AFA-MIFF: The philosophy of the Angel Film Awards Monaco, to look to the 'angel' within us all, spoke to our film's mission to find beauty and wonder in everyone and everyday life. When Betsy's father received a terminal diagnosis, he turned to nature, connection, and filmmaking to support his dying process and embraced a nonviolent approach to treatment. The film captures how Betsy alchemized her grief through creative expression and expanded both her empathy for and understanding of how loss affects us all. Grieving requires nurturing our bodies, minds, and spirits, all of which bring more inner peace within that supports more collective peace. Grief is a universal experience, making the film a powerful vehicle for bridge building and healing, all of which are key pillars of the Angel Film Award's mission of promoting Global Peace.

Storyline: Captain Scott B and the Great Adventure is a poignant father-daughter adventure story. Go on a journey of the heart as Betsy Bertram follows the trail her deceased father left behind in his home videos and journals. Traveling from the mountains to the sea of North Carolina, Betsy explores life's most vibrant ingredients—family, community, music, food, and a deep connection to nature, as she navigates the grief process and discovers the magic in each moment.
