OFFICIAL SELECTION

“ONE TOUCH AWAY” Written by LINDSEY ANN TALBOT (US)

BIO:

Lindsey Talbot is a screenwriter and children’s book author living in Santa Monica, California. After almost seventeen years of writing, studying, and honing her craft, she has found one simple truth – in the journey is the joy. Lindsey’s adventurous nature has led her down many paths, always with passion and a desire to serve. Somehow, she’s still alive and kept her spirit intact.

Lindsey is a Philip K. Dick scholar, having transcribed folders of his Exegesis. She has studied shamanism in various modalities. Her interest in religious and spiritual texts, epics, and practices has given her a deeper understanding of consciousness that is often sprinkled into her work. Lindsey enjoys applying her unconventional and often surrealist style to subjects that might not otherwise be seen with that light.

The last three years she has studied the sport of fencing. After observing her son in lessons and group classes, she took an active interest and began her own training. She discovered another passion. Intrigued by the honor, decorum, and conversation in movement of the sport, Lindsey decided to use that as an analogy for human relationships. One Touch Away is her love story to the sport of fencing and all the internal struggles we face along our own individual journeys toward love of self.

LOGLINE (Genre: Sports Romance Quirky Comedy)

A world champion fencer and his older female student bout their way through a forbidden chemistry that proves greater to master than the sport itself.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:

Former Olympic fencing star, Darcy Quinn, struggles to control his attraction to his new student and recent divorcee, Elle Dannan. On a journey to reclaim their own power, they both find their fated love to be the greatest challenge of all.

STORY OUTLINE:

Horrifically injured in his last Olympic Gold Medal final, young fencer Darcy Quinn trains to return to his former standing with his non-dominant hand, while endeavoring a stable career as a fencing coach. When he meets former divorcee and contentious older female student Elle Dannan amid her own fencing medalist pursuits, he must suppress the growing attraction that could otherwise jeopardize his success.

Elle finds herself falling for a highly driven younger man after a long marriage that left her feeling unseen and unsupported. Darcy’s fencing celebrity and repetitive hot and cold behavior catalyzes her into loving herself above all.

Darcy is caught between his intense chemistry with Elle and the reputation of his father’s predilection for students, a transgression that eventually resulted in his father being banned from the sport entirely. Everyone around the two sees it as a destined connection where one of them just needs to make a move already.

Darcy must finally act when his old rival uses the situationship with Elle to convince him to compete again on the world stage. Darcy must choose – prove to Elle he’s ready to commit or lose her to the rival that nearly ended his competitive career. It is all settled on the strip in a finals rematch at World Championships in Greece, where the only way out is to surrender to love.
